14 Weeks

Well, we are now onto week 14!!!  I put a poll up on the blog for you to guess if you think it's going to be a boy or a girl.  6 more weeks until we find out...your guesses would be fun to see!  I guess boy, because I have been having so many boy dreams latley!!  I have been feeling alot better latley.  Not so nauseated at the sight of everything.  My energy level has come back a little bit too.  Which is just in time.  The sanding of mud and drywall is done downstairs, and there needs to be some MAJOR cleaning before we can start to prime and paint.  If you want to come occupy my kids while I clean...please do, or if you'd rather clean while I occupy my kids...by all means, COME OVER!!!

I am so glad to have the weather warming enough to get the kids outside to play.  Sam could play all day outside.  Ethan doesn't care so much for it!  Two totally different boys!  Speaking of Ethan, last night we went to home deopt for tile, and Ethan had a melt down on the way out because we said no to Pringles on the way out.  Well he was screaming and crying as we walked out of Home Depot, which you know, will draw some attention.  About halfway to the car, Nick asks Ethan why he is so upset.  Ethans response was priceless.  He said "Because I wanted those damn chips".  It took everything in me not to laugh as I scolded him for cussing.  Sometimes that kid's got a bit of a mouth on him.  And other times, he looks at you with his sweet blue eyes and says "Mommy, your my best friend, I love you so much", and it just melts your heart!

Nose picking and animal squeezing.

Maybe I was raised with 3 brothers for a reason!?  To prepare me for all the things boys do.  Ethan is just such a sweetie.  Only picks his nose in private, but gets so embarrassed when you catch him.  He's such a lover!

Now Sam, he's not shy about it.  He just dives right in.  And if you see him, he laughs and does it longer.  Below Nick had all the clean laundry folded on the couch.  Sam climbed up with his spatcula and "flipped" all the clothes and shoved them all under the couch.  Nick was thrilled to say the least.  And I was too, because now I still got to fold the laundry,
even after Nick helped out!

Well Ethan is all registered for pre-school again this year.  He will go 3 days a week now.  To prepare him for the 5 days a week of kindergarden he will be doing next year!!  He's growing up too fast!! :(

If you ever see him doing this, IGNORE him!!!  He thinks its great fun to say "no no" when he does it.  He might have a stretched out notsril by the end of the year!
Oh, by the way, check out his hair.  Hanging in his eye, and curls UP in the back!  It's so cute.  I can't bear the thought of cutting it.  Even though he desperatley needs something done with it.  I just love the messy look he's got going on with it!!

No More Dungeon!! ;)

Well this was the entrance to our basement before...just about a few weeks ago.  Dark, narrow and "dungeony".  Definetley felt like a basement.
This is the suprise mess I got when I came home from work one night.  Nick is notorious for that.  But overall, it was a really good suprise.  If you can't tell, where the chair is, there used to be a wall there.  Those are electrical wires hangning...trying to figure out what to do with them as it kinda threw a wrench into our plan.
This is how it looks now.  Half wall.  Very open and inviting.  Electrical wires hidden!
No more ceiling that goes down with you as you head downstairs.  It's completley open all the way to the top.  All new drywall.  No more barn red! :)
Now when you are standing in the kitchen you can see who is coming in the garage door.  So the boys can't be hiding any guests into the basement!! :)  It looks 150 times better.  I am so proud of Nick for tackling all these jobs by himself...and honeslty sometimes I think he just wings it and hopes for the best!! :)

My Best Friend.

Sam and Ethan have become the best of friends.  They do still fight, but most of the time they can be found, helping each other, sharing, hugging, kissing.  Ethan won't kiss Sam on the lips unless his paci is in his mouth, otherwise it's always on the cheek!! :)

These boys love each other so much.  I can tell Sam looks up to Ethan, and just adores him!

Last week of my 1st trimester...

Today begins week 13, the last week of our first trimester. That's reassuring!!  For the past week, I have not had as many sick days, and have not been as tired.  Not too much energy, but I don't have to pry my eye balls open all day!! ;)  Last week we had our 1st trimester ultrasound.  Everything looked great!!  Was measuring a few days small...but not going to change anything just yet.  The baby is about an ounce now.
And, of course I asked about the sex.  The tech told me it was too soon to tell!!  So we will just have to wait another 6-7 weeks to find out, trust me, the anticipation is killing me!!  Otherwise we are so relieved the baby is healthy!!

My little lime!

Today starts week 12!!  And Wednesday we have an ultrasound.  I can't wait!  Not to find out the sex or anything like that, I think it's too soon...although I will still ask! ;)  It's just to make sure baby is growing and developing ok!  I definetley feel pregnant, although you really still can't tell.  Which is suprising since this is my 4th pregnancy!!  I am still wearing my regular clothes.  Some might think I have a "beer belly".  I am still feeling sick.  Most of the time not, but when I am it makes up for the time I wasn't!! :(  I guess the baby is just over 2 inches long and weighs about 1/2 and ounce.  Crazy isn't it!?  I have a feeling this pregnancy will just fly by.

In 1 short month...

On Feb. 20th we had just begun work in the basement.  About 1/2 the plumbing had been done and new concrete poured to cover it.  Nothing beyond that had even been started.  As of today 99% of the drywall is done!  I can't believe it has only taken a month to finish thos huge projects!  We have to hold off on the drwall on 1 wall in Sam's room because we are waiting for the ground to thaw so the gas meter can be moved outside.  Which that is going to suck a little bit because then my front yard will be dug up around that area!  I have been wanting to re-do the flower planter out front anyways...so I guess this is my opportunity!  Now it's onto tap and texture (ick), choosing bathroom items, carpet, paint colors, trim, tile, all the fun details!!

I really like the look of the glass tile around the mirror like this...what do you think??  We have found a vanity very similar to this, I just love that you have room for baskets underneath, perfect for towels.  I think this might be an option...we'll see!

Can't wait to post pics of the finished product!!!

Crazy Kid!

Got some much needed laughs tonight when I got home from work.  First of all, I would like to blame the back-up of laundry on the basement project...although it doesn't seem fitting.  My washer and dryer both still work just fine.
So...all of Ethan's pj's were dirty, and he had no clean "comfy" pants to wear to bed.  So we were left to improvise.  I remembered that I had put some of Sammie's old clothes in Ethan's closet.  I grabbed one.  Noticing how small it was, I thought we could stretch it a little....or a lot.  Tonight Ethan is wearing a 9-12 mo. pj sleeper to bed. ;)  I honeslty cannot believe he fit into it, none the less we could actually button the thing!!  Yes, we need to do laundry tomorrow!!  But Ethan had a blast in his cool outfit.  He thought it was some sort of super hero outfit, as he's doing karate chops and head stands.  He loved it.  I'm glad.  Because it was either that or just a tee shirt! :)
Sweet dreams my big boy buddy!!  We love you!!

The Progress...

Well, it's only been about 4 weeks since the start of the basement.  Nick has done a TON of work.  I am so proud of him.  All his days and nights when he is not at work is spent down in the basement....working away.  We have the plumbing, electrical, and heating and cooling completed and all passed inspection!!! :)
Saturday is insulation and drywall.  I have a feeling Nick could come very close to winning this silly little bet of his...Oh well.  The sooner this is done and my house is not a TOTAL disaster anymore, the better!!

My Green Monster.

I just love my little pouty face!
I couldn't resist the opportunity to have fun with this picture!!

Mr. Mustache.

I let Sam expirement with the spoon all by himself for the 1st time the other day.  He could have cared less about the spoon!  He had more fun putting his hand in the chocolate pudding and squishing it out through his fingers!!  He had a pretty good mustache going on by the time he was done! ;)

No Suprise Here.

This morning, I took an at home gender prediction test.  Had never even heard of it before, until I ran into it at Walgreens and thought it would be something fun to try!  It's suppossedly 89% accurate.  So.....are you dying to know what it said?
Apparently were having another B-O-Y!!
I'm not at all suprised.  And I think I am more willing to believe it since it says boy.  If it said we were having a girl, I'd be a little leary....I totally believe that it's correct.  I guess we will find out just how accurate it is in 10 more weeks!!

Has anyone ever taken this before?  Or know someone who has?  I'd love to hear how accurate your results were!!  Please share!!

Chit-Chatting...

Yesterday I worked 12 hours.  I always try to call home a few times to check on the boys.  This time Sam actually chatted back!  He kept saying "mama".  So Nick captured this picture and e-mailed it to me at work...to help get me through the day! :)

Happy March!

Today starts the beginning of March, and week 10!  This week the baby is the size of a kumquat.  I don't know what that is...maybe I'll have to find out!  The baby weighs less than a quarter of an ounce.  Wow.  That seems SO TINY!  This month we get our 1st ultrasound.  I guess they started doing a 1st trimester genetic screening, rather than waiting until 20 weeks.  We have this on the 17th. ;)

The basement is coming along nicely as well.  It's completley framed up, heating and cooling is done, and plumbing is almost done.  Our beautiful cast iron tub got delivered today.  Getting that down the stairs was a bit challenging to watch, but they did it!  This all just seems so surreal to me.  I can't believe it's actually all coming together.  Now the challenge is going to be once the basement is done, getting Sam to sleep in his own room, his own bed, all night long!!
