Oh Sam...

Sam, Sam, Sam.  Wow.  I don't even know where to start.  For one, he's totally opposite of Ethan.  Sam likes to "get dirty".  Ethan like to be clean.  Sam climbs everything, mostly things he shouldn't...like the entertainment center, and Ethan's bunk bed ladder...all the way to the top!  He likeS to play in the toilet water (yes I was mortified), and in the trash can.  For example this morning he found Ethan's left over chocolate pudding in the trash bag, got it out and had a hay day with it!!  All over the kitchen floor, under his nails.  That was fun...for both of us!  He loves to eat dog food and put all Sadie's kibbles in her water bowl.  And once that's done, Sadie won't eat them.  He likes to feed the dog his lunch, rather than eating it himself.  He tries to grab his diaper to play with it during a diaper change.  And this morning...I watched him pick his nose...and "try out" his findings...mmmm...

So every night when I am done getting Sam in his pj's he goes into the bathroom to tell Ethan good night while I make his bottle.  Tonight, the boys were especially quiet...so I knew they were UP to something.  I go in the bathroom, and he's in the tub, IN HIS PJ's!!  I had to laugh.  This kid is seriously into everything.  Anything I think about ahead of time, he usually does.  He is just like his Daddy.  He likes to keep you on your toes.

Did I mention we LOVE this kid so much?!? :)

Little Helpers.

Sam is loving this build downstairs!  He loves helping Daddy and getting dirty.  Ethan on the other hand would rather be upstairs playing his Wii.  The framing is complete.  You can really see how the layout is going to look.  It's so exciting!!  I am so proud of Nick, as he did all the framing himself!  The heating and cooling gets done Saturday and next step is electrical!  It's coming along nicely!!

Week 9.

Tomorrow starts week 9.  The baby is the size of a grape.  The joy's or morning sickness have fully kicked in.  It's more of an "all day" sickness.  Luckily I just feel it and have not actually done it!!  I am just trying to eat all day so I can hopefully avoid that feeling.

Our new hobby...

We have had a new project keeping us busy these past couple weeks.  Seems as though every free second is spent in the basement.  Just cleaning the basement out to be able to start work on it was a nightmare in itself!!  I mean we had boxes down there that hadn't even been opened since we moved in....5 years ago!!  But the project is finally underway.  All the steel has been layed to be able to frame it up.  The plumbing has been done and new concrete poured.  I have kind-of layed it out for you in the pic's below.
The boys's room's will be moved downstairs.  They will each have their own room.  Sam's room will be a guest room when we have guests.  And they will share a bathroom.  We will have a pretty decent size family room as well.  Which will be really nice since the boy's will be downstairs we will probably end up down there most of the time.
I will finally have a finished laundry room!!  I can't wait.  Not that I will feel any differently about doing laundry, it will be nice to not see clothes hanging all over the basement to dry!

Nick and I have a bet going.  He is for sure he can be done....meaning move in ready...paint on the walls, doors hung, etc, by April 30th.  I think it will be more like June-ish.  The stakes are high, and I hope I win!!  I will keep posting pictures of the progress!! :)

Week 7.

Today begins week 7.  The baby is the size of a blueberry, about 1/2 inch long!  This week the hands and feet are emerging from developing arms and legs — although they look more like paddles at this point than the tiny, pudgy extremities I'm daydreaming about holding and tickling!!
If you could see inside the womb, you'd spot eyelid folds partially covering it's peepers, which already have some color, as well as the tip of it's nose and tiny veins beneath parchment-thin skin. Both hemispheres of the baby's brain are growing, and the liver is churning out red blood cells until bone marrow forms and takes over this role. The baby also has an appendix and a pancreas, which will eventually produce the hormone insulin to aid in digestion. A loop in the baby's growing intestines is bulging into the umbilical cord, which now has distinct blood vessels to carry oxygen and nutrients to and from it's tiny body.
Isn't this so cool??  This week also began the morning sickness!! :(  BOO!!  I can say I have experienced the sickness from meat now.  I have heard many women do, but I never have, until now.  Ugh...gotta stop talking about it...

Fun in the Snow.

Ethan and Sam enjoyed the snow today.  We woke up to everything covered in fresh white powder.  Sam decided to sit in it before breakfast this morning..
good thing we noticed right away or he would have had a wet butt!!
Ethan got out his bulldozer and pilled up the snow with it!

My Baby.

My little boy sleeping.  How am I gonna tell him he's not going to be the baby anymore??

Finger Foods.

Sam and Ethan LOVE wheel pasta. Sam uses his fingers, and Ethan uses a serving spoon. Yes, a big serving spoon. He loves them. Don't know why?! Sam will stick his finger through the wheel and then put it in his mouth, he won't just pick it up. It has to be ON his finger!! Too cute!! I think pasta is their fav. meal. They always eat it all!!

Their Favorite Thing.

Ethan's favorite thing to do is play cars, trains, or animals...knee's on the floor, up against the couch or bed.  He does it all day.  Maybe I should buy him some knee pads?!  Now Sam's favorite thing to do is play on Ethan's bed.  And mess up whatever car or train line-up Ethan's got going.  Go figure.  They are still learning how to play together nicely...as most of the time it's a battle over who gets to play with what toy.  So for future advice...if you ever bring one of them a gift...make sure you get the EXACT same thing for the other!

Week 6.

Today is the start of the 6th week.  Our little peanut is the size of a lentil bean...you can see the comparison above with a quarter.  So far, I'm feeling great, really don't even feel pregnant.  I am tired, but I think thats just an everyday thing! ;)  We have our first appointment with the OBGYN on February 15th.  I can't believe we are about to go through all of this again...especially since Sam is 14 months.  I am excited, and nervous.
We are definetley going to find out the sex of the baby when the opportunity is there!!
Ethan will only speak of a baby sister...not a baby brother...so we'll have to wait and see!!
